Dayton, OH – December 2007 – The Flyin’ to the Hoop Invitational, one of the nation’s premier high school basketball showcase events, has secured its’ first “Presenting Sponsor” partnership with National City Bank.

“National City is proud to be the presenting sponsor of Flyin’ to the Hoop,” said Lars Eller, Executive Vice President of Retail Banking in Dayton. “Our support of this tournament provides the entire region the opportunity to connect with some of the finest athletes in the country in high school basketball.”

Many other major sponsors have also shown their support in helping to fund the flights and lodging of many of the national teams that participate. BarryStaff, Pepsi, Waibel Energy Systems, Samaritan North Sports Medicine and Meijer are just a few of the sponsors that help make the event one the nation’s elite.

This year’s marquee match-up will feature a high school “Battle of the Titans” when Ohio State Bound 7’ BJ Mullens and Canal Winchester face 2 – 7 footers on the Our Savior New America team out of New York.  30+ Division One projected recruits will be participating including the top-ranked point guard, Deandre Liggins, who is headed to the University of Kentucky.

Flyin' To The Hoop is an annual, in-season prep basketball invitational over the Martin Luther King Holiday weekend (January 19-21, 2008) at Trent Arena in Kettering, OH. In its’ 5-year history, the tournament has had over 100 players move on to play Division I college basketball and features 10 players in the NBA. Tickets are $10 / $20 per day (General Admission/Reserved Seating @ 5 games per day) or a 3-day pass for all 16 games is available.
